Straight Felling / Directional
Example of what sort of Felling Cut should be made
This term is referred to by Arborist when the tree is in a safe position to fell at ground level in a direction where the falling tree will not cause any damage to surrounding obstacles / structures. Straight felling requires great care and precision. The directional notch determines the direction of fall, the arborist then makes the felling cut. Left between these to cuts is the hinge, which directs the tree down to the ground towards the planned directional target in a safe way.
